Surge in number of Rocky people working on Cap Coast

AN ADDITIONAL 413 Rockhampton residents are now commuting to the Capricorn Coast for work.

This figure is a 46.4 per cent increase over five years (2011 to 2016).

2011's Census revealed 890 workers living in Rockhampton commuted daily to the Capricorn Coast, with that number surging to 1,303 commuters recorded at the time of the 2016 census.

QLD houses lead building approvals growth

NATIONAL detached house approvals have jumped to their strongest level in 15 years, and private houses in Queensland are leading the trend.

Australian Bureau of Statistics trend figures showed that over the three months to April, 31,562 new detached houses were approved for construction.

Housing Industry Association senior economist Shane Garrett said it was the most in any three-month period since 2003.

“The volume of approvals for new detached houses is at its strongest in 15 years,” he said.

Queensland’s regional property market has emerged from its battering after the resources slowdown

QUEENSLAND’S regional property market is emerging from the battering it took during the resources slowdown with coastal towns leading the charge.

Minyama on the Sunshine Coast proved to be the best performing housing market in the entire state in the past 12 months with new figures revealing median house price growth of 43.9 per cent to $1,275,000.

Many suburbs within the Sunshine Coast performed well in the past year as did the Gold Coast.
