'Hurry up and build it': Queensland town's surfing community gears up for prototype wave pool

Central Queensland is not famed for its great surf, but that could change with the creation of a wave pool at a man-made, inland lake that could produce world-first 2.4 metre waves.

Three-year wait to reopen cyclone damaged road almost over

THE three-year wait to reopen the Scenic Highway at Statue Bay is almost over.

The important link road for the Capricorn Coast has been closed since Cyclone Marcia devastated the site in February 2015 and repairs have been delayed by repeated weather events and engineering difficulties.
